Mesa Verde National Park Offers Free Admission in 2017

It’s true that most things in life aren’t free. But here’s something that is! Admission to Mesa Verde National Park – for 10 days in 2017, at least.

The park has announced that it is offering FREE admission on these 10 days in 2017. It’s just one more reason to plan your trip to Mesa Verde Country in the New Year!

  • January 16: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • February 20: Presidents Day weekend
  • April 15-16 & April 22-23: National Park Week Weekends
  • August 25: National Park Service’s 101st birthday
  • September 30: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11-12: Veterans Day Weekend

Mesa Verde, Spanish for green table, offers a spectacular view into the lives of the Ancestral Puebloan people. These native tribes made Mesa Verde their home for over 700 years, from A.D. 600 to 1300.

Today, the park protects nearly 5,000 known archaeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings. These sites are some of the most notable and best preserved in the United States.

But Mesa Verde National Park is just one of the many archaeological wonders in Mesa Verde Country. That’s why we like to say, “One day just isn’t enough!”

The Ute Mountain Tribal Park illustrates how modern-day descendants of the Ancestral Puebloans have kept their stories and rich history alive. Canyons of the Ancients National Monument is home to more than 6,000 ancient dwellings and offers more than 175,000 acres to explore! At Crow Canyon Archaeological Center, you can be an archaeologist for a day.
