The Summer Send‑Off is Cortez’s newest signature celebration, blending the long‑loved Balloon Rendezvous with a fresh, community‑wide evening of music, culture, and end‑of‑summer fun. The event kicks off at 5 PM with a special reading of the Cortez 140 Proclamation, followed by performances from local groups, community interviews, and live entertainment throughout the night. Guests can explore cultural and historical exhibitors, enjoy food and beverage vendors, and experience tethered balloon rides in the south field. As the sun sets, the park lights up with a stunning Balloon Glow, followed by a 15‑minute drone show honoring the Cortez 140, Colorado 150, and USA 250 anniversaries.
