Farmers Markets

Touch the past, touch the plenty

Farmers’ markets in Southwest Colorado provide a true taste of the region’s heritage, community, and of course, the fresh local produce. Searching for some culinary inspiration? Want to shop where the chefs go? Sample the best Mesa Verde Country has to offer at these seasonal, open-air markets.

In addition to finding rare varieties of heirloom fruits and vegetables, you can discover out-of-the-ordinary goods such as jams, sauces, wellness potions, and artisan-made goods. You are then able to interact with farmers and makers to ask questions in a laid-back atmosphere. A farmer’s market near Mesa Verde is a social gathering, holistic food court and learning epicenter rolled into one!

Peruse the Cortez Farmer’s Market while listening to live musicians who perform weekly. You’ll find artisan goods, freshly roasted coffee, and only hyper-local and organic produce grown in neighboring counties. Not available on the weekends? The Mancos Farmer’s Market features local meats, eggs, and even mushrooms every Thursday evening during the summer. You’ll want to stick around to hear local musicians perform and shop handcrafted products made here in the Mancos Valley.

Most markets operate from June to October when farmers enjoy an abundant harvest in Colorado. Looking for a farmer’s markets beyond the summer months? In addition to the city’s summer market, visit the Dolores Winter Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from early November to March. Discover fresh and locally grown produce meats, eggs, fruit and more, all displayed in a warm greenhouse space.
