Federal Government Shutdown Information & Updates

Unfortunately, the federal government shutdown is affecting some of our favorite adventures here in Mesa Verde Country. While access and services at a few places are temporarily limited, there is still plenty to see, do, and taste this season.

What To Expect

During the federal government shutdown, some national park and monument sites in Mesa Verde Country remain open but with limited or no services. Visitors should plan ahead and expect that restrooms, visitor centers, and campgrounds may be closed, roads and trails may not be maintained, and trash collection and ranger programs are paused.

National Park Service sites will not be regularly updating or monitoring their websites or social media during the shutdown, so responses and current information may be limited or unavailable.

If you choose to visit these places during the government shutdown, it’s especially important to travel responsibly to help protect these sites while regular operations are on hold.
